On Saturday I went for a hike in the Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve, starting from the Priest Rock trailhead (map) to see what kind of beauty I could find with a 100mm Macro
Everything you see was shot hand-held with the aforementioned setup. I played with shallow to vast depth-of-field, high and low shutter speeds, and the high-speed mode on the flash which allowed me to shoot at 1/4000th of a second. Pretty cool, and if you look at the photo info on the photos in the gallery, you’ll be able to see the specifics of each shot.
Most of these are displayed full-frame (no cropping). Only a few were cropped; most notably the tiny yellow flowers at the end. Nearly everything I shot was tiny tiny tiny… some smaller than a pencil eraser. Which is actually a pretty good argument for the often-excessive 21.1 megapixel resolution of this camera—loads of pixels to zoom in on!
