As I explained in the previous post, I felt a sudden need to get back on the road, leaving Santa Fe around 5:00pm. Clearly I wasn’t going to get far before the sun made it’s daily trek south, but fortunately my timing (as unrehearsed as it may have been) had me on a gorgeous stretch of road that’s part of historic Route 66, now Highway 84, between Interstates 25 and 40. (If you open these in Flickr, you’ll see on the map exactly where they were taken).
The sky was filled with storm clouds, and while I never received any rain myself, a rainbow was kind enough to make an appearance for the camera. And the plentiful sunflowers (which I believe are actually called New Mexico Sunflowers… anyone? anyone? Bueller? Bueller?) were, erm, plentiful, with the sun setting behind them.
